Top 3 Auctioneering Tips – Marty Rogers – Marty Rogers Auctioneers USA

Tip 1: Attend a really good auction school in America.  (Sorry couldn’t resist).

Attend an auction school or college that is more interested in your success than in filling their class rooms.  And find a good mentor who is willing to help you navigate the often uncharted waters of the auction business. The great thing about this business is the fact there are a ton of great people willing to help, don’t be afraid to ask.

Tip 2: Good bid calling is great, but great salesmanship will make your auction business successful.

If you have very little sales training get some, take a Dale Carnegy coarse or other sales training, it will definitely be worth it. Make sure whatever course you choose it’s client and integrity based we have been put here to help our fellow man and the auction business can do just that.

Tip 3: Under promise and over deliver.

Due to the nature of our business we are going to see the fruits of our labor (results of our marketing campaign) in a very short time so never promise what you can’t deliver.  And if you have bad news for you client the sooner they know what you know the better your chances of salvaging a sale.  All the technology we have at our disposal today will provide the data you need to prove the market and justify the sale.
