Tip 1 :Focus On Being Different

Personally I find many auctioneers boring and predictable. Boring turns buyers off and predictable gives them an edge over you. I suggest focussing on keeping your audience engaged and focussed in order to optimise your result so get coaching from an actor, or a rock star who entertains for a living. Predictable auctioneers are boring to those who follow real estate and buyers will follow you to see your way of auctioning and it is important to not let them pick predictability.

Tip 2: Copy the Best of the Best and then take control and become uniquely you.

Copying fast tracks you to competency, becoming uniquely you takes you auctions to a new level. I find that the Industry has become too bland and I feel Auctioneering is a personality based business, the more you can let your personality come through, the better the result….assuming you have a personality!! Auctioneering is where entertainment and business come together. If you can master both you will outperform all others.

Tip 3: Take performance risks

Covering legal’s and being professional is a given BUT great auctioneers take risks and use gut feel and instincts to deliver awesome auctions. An award winning technical auctioneer when set free to completely focus on their environment and truly live in the moment is the real deal for me.
